I’m Halli, the creator of Yummi by Halli! My passion is cooking for the people I love, and I am grateful to share that with you! At Yummi by Halli, you will find my modern take on classically delicious dishes with lots of plant-based recipes mixed in. I love food and I love to eat! I also believe you are what you eat, so I always try to create recipes that not only taste great, but also make you feel great. Yummi by Halli is all about finding the perfect balance between clean eating, delicious flavors and sharing exceptional food with the ones you love.
I grew up in Oklahoma and at 18 I moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career. Modeling allowed me to travel the globe and living in New York opened my eyes to a whole new world of food. I fell in love with trying new foods and restaurants, and I became obsessed with finding the best food in the City.
In 2010, I left the fashion world behind and went to law school. Cooking and creating recipes were my only creative escapes during the 3 years of intense study. Anytime I was stressed, I wrote a recipe, so by the end of it, I had created hundreds of recipes.
Most of those recipes live at www.martinfamilystyle.com, a food blog I launched with my 3 sisters and sister-in-law in 2014. I am so proud of Martin Family Style and everything it represents. Some of my best memories have been made around my family’s dinner table and Martin Family Style is all about bringing people together through food and entertaining in style. I hope to continue that in my own fresh way with Yummi by Halli.
Yummi by Halli started to come together after realizing how much I’ve changed the way I eat and entertain since launching Martin Family Style. In 2015, I moved Los Angeles where I took a job at film and television production company, so naturally, I became a vegan- so L.A., I know! Shifting my diet to be more plant based, I saw big improvements in my skin, mood and overall health. I felt better, looked better, and I also learned I didn’t have to compromise on taste.
I now consider myself a “weekday vegan”. That means, during the week I eat largely plant-based, but I always leave the weekends, trips and celebrations open for anything delicious- no rules!
This way of approaching food and cooking is what you will find at Yummi by Halli. The site is broken up into 4 sections.
